Reentry Services

A community reentry program designed for second chances.

Community Alliance’s Vocational Life Skills (VLS) reentry program is dedicated to empowering formerly incarcerated individuals by providing comprehensive support and resources to facilitate their successful reintegration into the community.  Our services center on providing the mental health, physical health and social supports needed to avoid recidivism and build a pathway toward a purposeful and productive life within the community.

How We Can Help:

We utilize a team-based, holistic approach to addressing the challenges faced by individuals transitioning from incarceration, providing direct, hands-on assistance to address individual needs, including:

  • Accessing counseling, therapy and addiction recovery programs
  • Connecting with substance use and other support groups
  • Linking to additional integrated health services offered by Community Alliance such as primary healthcare, peer support, and crisis response services
  • Assistance in securing transitional or permanent housing
  • Skill development opportunities including life skills classes such as financial literacy, conflict resolution and problem-solving
  • Employment assistance including resume-building, interview skills, and job-seeking
  • Identification and linkage to other community resources including financial assistance and benefits programs for which the individual may be eligible
  • Supporting reconnection with family and community

VLS Reentry Service team members work in partnership with correction staff in support of our common goal — supporting each individual’s successful transition from incarceration to a free and purposeful life within the community.  The team welcomes engagement with individuals and discharge social work staff prior to release to identify priorities and establish an individualized reentry plan.  Post-discharge, we can help you work collaboratively with probation or parole officers to achieve these individualized goals and support program participants’ understanding of their responsibilities.
