Enriching the Lives of Those We Serve: Library Outing Fosters a Love of Learning

A group of six adults and one staff member pose together inside the Omaha Central Library. They are standing in front of a wood-paneled wall with large “OMAHA CENTRAL” lettering. The group is smiling and dressed casually, some carrying books, notebooks, or backpacks. A library bookshelf filled with books is visible in the foreground on the right, creating a welcoming library setting.

Individuals served by Community Alliance’s Day Rehabilitation program had an amazing time visiting our neighbors at the newly opened Omaha Central Library! Everyone was impressed by the beautiful space and the incredible variety of books and resources available. Exploring all three floors felt like a mini adventure, with something new to discover around every corner.

When one of the individuals we serve was asked what kind of books they were planning to check out, they shared that they were looking for a psychology book to better understand their illness. What a powerful reminder that knowledgeable information, self-awareness and the desire to grow can be transformative in the recovery process.

We are so grateful to be able to offer opportunities like these for people to enjoy a memorable outing together.
