Community Alliance understands the power of having walked in someone else’s shoes. For many who face a mental illness, the practical, hands-on advice and understanding of those who have faced similar challenges is the added layer of support and direction they need to achieve their own recovery, or at least overcome a current roadblock. That is why Community Alliance provides trained peer specialists throughout its programs. We also offer a peer staffed crisis service called Safe Harbor.
Family members, friends and significant others can also benefit from their own peers. Community Alliance’s family education staff are available to lend an understanding ear and help family members and others exchange information and learn effective ways to take care of themselves as well as their loved one.
